Making your CCM SS-25 reach its full potential.
|
|
The SS-25 is the "flagship" marker from
CCM (Chipley Machine). When I got my prototype SS25 in April of 2005,
I instantly knew I could make it perform better. In my quest for satisfaction
I decided to make my own valve for it. One that used standard "cocker"
style cup seals and valve springs. My valve design is based off of the
WGP 2k cocker valve which I have used with very good results. |

The only permanent modification to the marker is increasing the diameter (I.D) of the spring guide bore in the vertical asa assembly (front of gun where the reg screws into). The way I modified mine was fairly simple. After removing the assembly from the gun (remove frame, remove front screw under body, remove pump kit). I then chucked up the assembly into the lathe and used a boring bar to increase the spring guide ID. We did leave a 0.100" step on the bottom of the bore. (basically making the spring not go all the way to the bottom of the bore). Diameter of the ID should be approx 0.375" after boring. We didn't use a drill bit because we wanted a flat bottom step for the spring to rest on. Here is the valve body drawing. I apologize for lack of tolerances, but its not a production drawing. I would make the o-ring grooves a tad larger rather than smaller to increase the o-ring compression and help prevent leaks. After valve install, I used a blue madman 1.25" cocker valve spring with a WGP cup seal (Try a NW black magic if you can find one, they should work great). I also used the standard CCM hammer and main spring. With an input pressure of about 350-375psi, it should work great. Minor rather will be required to get maximum potential realized, but this should be a good start. If you can't get the valve made locally, email K&P Customs or Paintball Maxx Valve Comparison, original CCM valve for SS-25 versus

What's the new valve do? Well, first of all, it gets rid of the common "hammer bounce" that many CCM pump guns (and many snipers in general) have. Its the farting or burping sound. This can seriously reduce efficiency of the marker. Why worry about efficiency? Well, with better efficiency, you can use a smaller tank and reduce size and weight of the marker package. Better efficiency.. see hammer bounce Easier Velocity adjustment, I have found MUCH easier velocity adjustment with my new valve. I simply turn the IVG a tad and its perfect. Before I installed my valve, I have to occasionally mess with the inline reg. I prefer to use the IVG and keep the reg the same. Consistency seems about the same... which is very good. What doesn't the new valve do? Make you faster, shoot flatter, shoot farther, or give you more "game." It only makes your gun realize its full potential. |
